American Patricia (Pattie) Wu-Murad was an avid world explorer and hiker.\\xa0 She had traveled to Japan in the past to hike the beautiful scenery.\\xa0 She returned again in March 2023 for another adventure and something went wrong.

\\nPattie left her accommodation on April 9 to resume her hike.\\xa0 When she didn\'t arrive at her next stop later that day as planned, the alarm was raised.\\xa0 Local authorities in Japan started looking for Pattie, but her family was not notified of the situation until April 14.

\\nHer family raced to Japan and started their own search for her.\\xa0 They were met with red-tape, language barriers and a lack of resources.\\xa0 The search was fruitless and they finally had to stop searching for Pattie on May 30, as the typhoon season became imminent.
