You know we love scammer stories at True Crime Campfire, and we want to make sure you don't miss this one--a new investigative podcast from Campside Media. The hosts, journalists Josh Dean and Vanessa Grigoriadis, take us through the twisty-turny tale of one of the weirdest, longest-running scams in history--with more than a thousand victims spanning multiple countries and nearly 8 years.

The story has been covered by BBC News, Vice, the NY Times and others, so you might know a few of the basics already. But this podcast is a deep dive, and the hosts are actively engaged in trying to catch the scammer at the center of it all. Dubbed the Hollywood Con Queen, this person has been at it for years, scamming beginning actors, models, trainers and makeup artists into flying to various locations in Indonesia for movie jobs that never existed. The con queen is multilingual, an expert at all kinds of different accents, and has impersonated big Hollywood names to perpetuate the scam.

Josh and Vanessa have spoken to dozens of victims, from multiple countries, and to the private investigator who's also on the trail of the scammer. They've collected some compelling evidence that points to a particular suspect--a fake passport, photographs, and tape recordings. And as the story unfolds, we see the terrible emotional toll this clever fraudster's actions have taken on the victims. Listen to this clip, and you're gonna be as obsessed as we are!
