We have our professional mask, our \\u201cmake a good first impression\\u201d mask, our \\u201cfake it til you make it\\u201d one, when we don\\u2019t want anybody to know how anxious we are\\u2026But for most of us, the masks aren\\u2019t that different from our real personalities. Just a little more polished, maybe. Most of us don\\u2019t absolutely need the masks to survive. To avoid the horror and revulsion of our peers. To avoid prison. We hear it all the time on news reports about horror-movie style atrocities: He seemed like such a nice guy. He seemed so normal. He never even raised his voice. It\\u2019s unsettling, to realize how convincing a mask can be\\u2026even when what lies behind it is nothing short of monstrous.
