Lisa Renee's guest on this episode is Anthony DeRosa. Anthony DeRosa, also known by his “claylias” The Mud Monkey, is a potter and educator who lives and works in Slippery Rock, PA. Mostly concerned with atmospheric firing, his works are a response to the interactions he has with the local geography, often processing raw materials to formulate unique clay bodies and glazes to be wood fired. Anthony holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Slippery Rock University with a Pennsylvania K-12 Art Teaching Certification. After being introduced to ceramics on the banks of Wolf Creek, Anthony continued to study and work with potters both locally and abroad in Japan, Costa Rica, The Netherlands, Italy and The Dominican Republic learning and observing various atmospheric kilns and clay forming techniques. In addition to exhibiting and selling his wares he currently teaches Commercial Art and Graphic Design at the Lawrence County Career and Technical Center in New Castle, PA as well as leads workshops on atmospheric firing across the United States.
