Why Affirmations are BS

Have you ever had the experience where you\\u2019ve said to a friend, \\u201cOMG! I\\u2019ve gained so much weight. I feel so disgusting.\\u201d and your friend responds with something like, \\u201cYou shouldn\\u2019t say that. You\\u2019re not disgusting. You\\u2019re beautiful!\\u201d?

I mean, we don\\u2019t necessarily want our friends to agree with a statement like that, but on the other hand, \\u201cYou\\u2019re not disgusting. You\\u2019re beautiful!\\u201d feels inauthentic at best.

You may even wonder - I know that this body love/self love thing is something that I need to get behind - so many folks talk about how its helpful to treating myself better - and I know that my self esteem is low. But I really can\\u2019t get behind the whole \\u201cmy body is beautiful\\u201d thought process.

Maybe my body is the exception to that rule.

Body like, love and acceptance is available to all of us.

We\\u2019ve just been doing it wrong.

And don\\u2019t worry - you won\\u2019t have to stand in front of a mirror and say repeatedly, \\u201cI love my body\\u201d
