Myanmar Part 2: Inle Lake to Bagan and on to Mandalay

Published: March 16, 2017, 11 a.m.

Last week on the podcast, we took you from Yangon to the Golden Rock, back to Yangon and we were headed on an overnight bus to Inle Lake right as we finished the episode. This week, we're picking up where we left off. We share what our 12 hour overnight bus from Yangon to Inle was like, and what we did in 3 days in Inle, including an entire day spent in the pouring rain. After Inle Lake, we take you to Mandalay where we explored the city and took in the U-Bein bridge at sunset, before making our way by bus to Bagan. Bagan is probably the most well known and photographed place in Myanmar, and it was one of the main reasons that we were (well, mainly Amanda) drawn to Myanmar. With over 2000 pagodas in the area, Bagan is a very unique part of the world. We spent 3 days exploring by ebike, and we take you around as we explore pagoda after pagoda, sunrise, sunset and everything else in between. Unfortunately, our time in began ended with a nasty dose of food poisoning, which made our last few days in Mandalay less exciting than we would have hoped. We share what that experience was like, our overall impressions of Mynmar, things to consider if you decide to go, and much more. Enjoy!
