Living in a tourist town: Our experiences in Canmore & Banff

Published: Nov. 26, 2015, 3:04 p.m.

Have you ever dreamed about moving to a place that you’ve visited? Dreamed about spending a winter skiing in the Rockies, or surfing in Byron Bay?
So many people have a vision of quitting their job, and leaving the city they’ve been living in. There are so many amazing places that people visit on trips, and the memory never completely goes away. Something about the place calls you back.
We always knew that we wanted to settle into one of the place we had travelled to, but never really expected it to be so close to home. We had a plan to spend a summer in the mountains near our former home of Calgary, and over a year later we were still there.
In this episode you’ll learn:

What is like to quit your career and start working in the service industry in a tourist town
What happens to your perspective on a place when you are living there instead of visiting
Where you should go if you are visiting Canmore and Banff
What we miss about living in a small town
Why you should give in to your desire to spend some time living in one of the awesome places that you’ve visited
How quitting your job can be a positive career move
