The Pendulum

This week's Tale is a short story from one of the greats of American literature - and science fiction in particular - Ray Bradbury. He was credited by the New York Times as being the writer most responsible for making science fiction a mainstream genre. Shortly before the period of intense activity that produced "Farenheit 451", Bradbury wrote this unnerving short story with Henry Hasse in 1941. It was his first professional writing credit, and the start of a formidable career.
