2020/21 Serie A Podcast: The Surprising Table Toppers

Published: Nov. 11, 2020, 10:13 a.m.

In the fifth episode of the 2020/21 Serie A podcast, we discuss the unexpected look of the Serie A table, with last year’s scudetto contenders all standing outside the top positions.  The analysis of the weekend’s games begins with Milan’s draw at Verona and Ibrahimovic’s worrisome penalty-kick statistics (1:00).  We talk about Sassuolo, able to hang out in second place despite relying on very limited financial resources when compared to their Serie A rivals (6:05) and Napoli, whose quick offensive players are becoming the nightmare of many Serie A defenders (10:30).  We look at what happened over the weekend in Atalanta vs. Inter (13:45), Lazio vs. Juventus (18:40), and Genoa vs. Roma (21:00).  Serie A will be back in two weeks after the international break.  Will players be able to push through fatigue, soft-tissue injuries, and Covid in what is likely the most physically and mentally-demanding season ever? (26:45)
