Q&A Kindling Questions 4: What Happened to the Ark of the Covenant?

Todays Question is: What happened to the Ark of the Covenant?

The Ark of the Covenant was last reported in scripture when it was returned to the temple by order of King Josiah to the caretakers of the Ark of the Covenant.

This can be found in 2 Chronicles 35:1-6 and 2 Kings 23:21-23.

Going Deeper Till this day this question puzzles many bible students, scholars and archeologists.

\n

When King Nebuchadnezzar captured Jerusalem and pillaged the temple, 40 years later, the question arises, "what happened to the Ark?" Was it taken by Nebuchadnezzar? Was it destroyed with the city? Or was it removed and hidden away safely?

\n

Interestingly in Revelation 11:19, the Ark is seen in heaven, but was this the ark that dwelt on earth, or the one that lies in heaven in which Moses replicated (Hebrews 9). Some non canonical books suggest it was hidden in the mountains, and others say that it was buried under the temple mount which now lies under the Dome of the Rock. There is also a belief that it is tucked away and guarded by some priests in Ethiopia, but no one has ever been able to witness the truth of any of these suggestions.

Truth is, no one knows where the Ark is. But God will reveal it in His due time, or,  this will be one of those wonderful questions we will have to wait to be answered upon the glorious return of our Lord and Savior.
