Just Be Glad It Happened

Published: Jan. 8, 2018, 8:57 p.m.

Inspired about recent going ons in our lives, we tackle what seems to be an unusual topic for the beginning of a new year: grief.

Boss of the week: This week we celebrate the teachers in the Baltimore City schools for continuing to teach and innovate while some of their schools were (and still are) without heat during this extremely cold spell.

Ice Breaker: This week we discuss how we rang in the New Year, and maybe Toni and her car should stay home.

#CultureFix: We start off talking about Love and Hip Hop Miami and things get soooo shady as we break down the first episode. Then we segue into another Love and Hip Hop star Cardi B for her new verse on Bruno Mars’ Finesse Remix. And please just let us enjoy our 90s nostalgia. And is more good but… news, Essence is black owned again! Buuuttttt it’s bought by the CEO of Shea Moisture. Will the content suffer or flourish under his ownership. And what is going on with Ebony Magazine?! Finally in more suffering news, stunt queen Kendu is asking Mary J for even more money cuz the divorce *he* caused is stressing him out. Please wait while we pull out the world’s smallest violin.

#PoliticsFix: And are you okay sis? No seriously, is 53% of white women’s president alright? Like mentally…? I mean #we know he’s not, but now #they are starting to catch on. We also talked about how Iceland is actually putting their money where their mouth is about equal pay.

#BeautyFix: Inspired by Glossier’s social media campaign, we’re talking our skincare, beauty and self-care goals for the year.

#FaithFix: Finally, we discuss a pretty heavy topic: grief. We all experience it as a part of life and we look to Isaiah 57:1-2 for guidance: “Good people pass away; the godly often die before their time. But no one seems to care or wonder why. No one seems to understand that God is.” Lean on God’s understanding, even in times of passing.
