This is an emotional episode! So get your tissues ready before you hit play!

***Show Notes***

We start the episode with our Boss of The Week: Nancy Abu-Bonsrah, the first black female neurosurgery resident at Johns Hopkins. Cuz you know black girls are out here being excellent. Then we jump straight into our Culture Fix, where we discuss Kendrick’s “Humble” song and video y’all been arguing about for days. Is he uplifting or misogynistic? Niccara, could see the point, while Toni wants yall to stop writing 22526783940 tweet long threads about it. Either way, that video is FIRE! Then we segue in a big shake-up at BET, the VP and EVP of original programming (you know like Mary Jane and New Edition), left seemingly very suddenly. Is BET in trouble?

In the Politics Fix, we talk about the sass yall presidents minions have been giving black women. And what yall WONT DO is shade Auntie Maxine. NOT. ON. OUR. WATCH! And shoutout to our real president, Hillary Clinton, for standing up for us. In the Beauty Fix, we talk about our favorite beauty bloggers and YouTubers and the importances of finding beauty vloggers who look like you!

Finally in the Faith Fix, we get really, really, REAL and parental relationships as generationals curses. Toni talks about her experience being a “PK” (a preacher’s kid) and how she is starting to see her mother as person, rather than a “mom”. Taylor speaks about being raised primarily raised by her grandmother, patching up her relationship with her mother and having an incarcerated father. And Niccara speaks about dealing with her parents divorce and a changing and deteriorating relationship with her mother. Then we talk about how to break these generational curse we have lurking in our families. It starts with identifying the curses, introspecting and vowing to make changes for ourselves and our future generations.
