b"The Real Estate Show continues it's very informative analysis of the marketplace on today's #MidweekReport. Yesterday we highlighted the National Association of Realtor's Aspiring Homebuyer Report and discussed some of the revealing trends that will benefit real estate investors and homebuyers alike. According to that report respondents maintained a favorable view about homeownership, with over 90% of homeowners and roughly 80% of non-homeowners indicating that buying a home is still part of their American dream. Today we added even more support for the positive argument for #homeownership with a report from #Zillow's Consumer Housing Trends Report building a case on why home ownership will go up as millennial's age. Still at historic lows, homeownership which had been falling since 2006, will go up. Most new household formation in recent years has been in the form of rental households. This trend may soon change as Millennials age and approach major life events, like getting married and having children. While they're not buying in large numbers yet, they do plan to. The Zillow survey found Millennials, more than any other demographic, consider homeownership to be integral to the American Dream. Also, they see it as a path toward greater personal freedom. The report also goes on to say that even though more Millennials will be buying, there are still many more to fill rental units as well. This continues to bode well for #Landlords. There will still be plenty of young people left in the rental pool. Plus, even if all the Millennials in the 33 year old range, the median age for first-time homebuyers, decided they wanted to buy, there's not enough inventory to accommodate all of them. Also, according to the Zillow consumer housing trend report, almost 70% of Millennials who have been renting for more than a year, make less than $50,000 a year, putting a home purchase still out of reach for many. Therefore the shift towards homeownership will likely be a gradual one. Good news in my opinion.
