Yes, it is kind of.\\n\\nQuarterback has become a light switch of a decision.\\n\\nIt\'s a binary question of whether or not you have a quarterback or not. If you do, then he has to be the highest paid player when his name comes up.\\n\\nThe cost of "franchising" eli Manning is $25 million or $3 million more than the richest QB deal. Why?\\n\\nThe non-exclusive tag would cost $23.7 million and a quarterback starved team might try and sign\\n\\nManning in exchange for two first round picks.\\n\\nIf I\'m the Giants I might actually go for that, but I digress. The Giants are going to pay Manning and they should.\\n\\nI learned this all with Joe Flacco. The question isn\'t whether Flacco is "elite" although that\'s a funny thing to talk about because I hate the Ravens.\\n\\nThe point is that Flacco is a real franchise quarterback. If you have one, you have to pay him the most when his name comes up.\\n\\nWe\'re talking about the same league that is willing to put nearly $100 million within reach of Andy\\n\\nDalton\'s ginger paws. It\'s not guaranteed, of course, but it\'s possible.\\n\\nBrowns fans should know all too well. You\'re splitting hairs between Flacco, an aging Drew Brees, Ben Roethlisberger, Matt Ryan and Matthew Stafford. Are they franchise quarterbacks? The answer is yes.\\n\\nGiants fans aren\'t in the clear just yet though. Eli Manning could easily - especially at his age - become Jay Cutler.\\n\\nJay Cutler might play his way out of the hell hole he found himself in over the past couple years, but it\'s looking ugly in Chicago.\\n\\nEven in that case though, look in your hearts Browns fans and tell me you wouldn\'t rather have Jay\\n\\nCutler and whatever compared to the Cleveland Browns\' QB situation.\\n\\nThe Browns went after one legged Sam Bradford this year, so I\'ll hear you say otherwise, but I won\'t believe it.\\n\\n\\nLearn more about your ad choices.
