There are calls for the new government to cough up more money for construction.
Some commercial construction companies are sharing concerns that shovel-ready funding is going into roads - when it should be going into buildings.
Brosnan Construction managing director Phil Brosnan told Mike Hosking high rises are where the jobs are.
"We do want to do what we need, but there is an opportunity to create buildings that might promote building to, particularly down in Christchurch."
