Kevin Ward: Airlines reporting steady stream of sales for trans-Tasman flights

The aviation sector is crossing its fingers for two-way travel between New Zealand and Australia, before Christmas.
New South Wales and the Northern Territory will open to New Zealanders on Friday week.
Qantas is reporting steady sales of mostly one-way flights to Australia, while Flight Centre says website views of New Zealand to Australia flights have doubled.
Aviation Coalition co-chair Kevin Ward told Mike Hosking it's positive news, but it's nothing on the sales we can expect when New Zealand opens up to Australian states as well.
He says quarantine-free both ways is the magic step which we need to take in the run up to Christmas.
Ward says it's crucial that New Zealand opens up to Australia as well -- but the Government is right to seek safety assurances first.
He says opening up travel before it's safe,  could lead to a fear of travel, like what's developed in the Northern Hemisphere.
