Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison's confirmed Kiwis can travel quarantine-free to New South Wales and the Northern Territory as of October 16.
But New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern's holding back, saying we're not ready to have Australians enter the country without quarantining.
Tourism Holdings Limited boss Grant Webster told Mike Hosking, it's like a one way door - and our tourism industry loses out, now's the time to push conversation on a travel bubble.
He says it needs to go two ways, now's the time to push conversation on a travel bubble, that will balance it out, and both countries will benefit significantly.
“Australia reopening for us will be huge.”
Webster says the trans-Tasman bubble itself could make New Zealand’s tourism into a sustainably profitable business again.
“Between Australia and New Zealand as an overall bubble both countries will win significantly.”
