Grant Robertson: Finance Minister cautiously optimistic over strong job numbers

A warning from the Finance Minister about more economic pain on the way.
New figures from Stats NZ show the unemployment rate dropped to 4.9 percent in the three months to December, down from 5.3 percent in the three months to September.
Grant Robertson says the result reflects the strength of construction and export industries like dairy.
But he told Mike Hosking the full effects of the Covid 19 pandemic are yet to be seen in some parts of the economy.
“Tourism businesses in particular will be reassessing their situations in March and April. Clearly with Covid-19, we are yet to see the full impact of it.’
Robertson says the Government is doing what it can, to help tourism businesses pull through.
