Tourism operators are pinning all their hopes on a Covid-19 travel bubble jump-starting the Cook Islands economy.
New Zealand officials are travelling to the Cooks on Saturday to work on progressing a travel arrangement.
Cook Islands Chamber of Commerce head Fletcher Melvin told Mike Hosking border systems and hotels are good to go.
"We are currently running on reserves, as there's no income coming into the economy. It's time that we kick-started the economy back into action."
Melvin told Mike Hosking a new scanner has been added to PPE gear and contact tracing, to beef up the Cooks' systems for border arrivals.
He says any gaps will be plugged quickly.
