David Murdoch: Infectious diseases expert says Covid-19 is a tricky virus to manage

An infectious diseases expert is backing the explanation that Covid-19 is a complicated virus.
Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern described the virus as tricky on the back of a maintenance worker at a managed isolation facility testing positive.
University of Otago infectious diseases expert David Murdoch told Mike Hosking it's not a surprise that things haven't worked perfectly.
“It is a tricky virus - and it's one that's led to a number of quite explosive outbreaks around the world from one small incursion."
But there is some concern about the latest issues surrounding testing of high risk groups.
The Government has come under criticism for a failure to regularly test border workers for Covid-19.
David Murdoch says there's room for improvement.
"With the situation we're in,  we deserve to have the best we possibly can have - and we're possibly falling short in a number of places."
