Darryn Webb: More rooms being made available in December for Kiwis returning home

Issues coordinating with the airlines are complicating bookings for managed isolation.
A surge in demand ahead of Christmas caused spaces in quarantine hotels to dry up, but an extra 100 rooms a day have now been found between December 13 and 23.
Head of Managed Isolation and Quarantine Air Commodore Darryn Webb told Mike Hosking every time an airline changes its schedule it disrupts links with managed isolation vouchers.
"We're working closely with the airlines, but can't compel them to do things. Every effort is being made to get New Zealanders home."
Webb says he appreciates the fact people want to get home.
"They'll get here - although it might not be on exactly the dates they'd prefer - but there'll certainly be space over the period right throughout the Christmas break."
