Pfizer says the technology in its Covid-19 vaccine means it can be changed easily to combat new variants of the virus.
Now it's won Medsafe approval,  the first doses are due to arrive by the end of next month.
There are 58 conditions, including the company having to provide ongoing clinical data, and full disclosure of any safety concerns.
Pfizer New Zealand managing director, Anne Harris, told Mike Hosking the conditions are part of the normal process.
"The company is ready to meet those, and we feel confident to do that in the coming months."
Harris says traditional vaccine technology would require months to years, to develop a new vaccine.
But she says with mRNA technology, it would only take weeks or months.
