An assurance Wellingtonians will start seeing action, now its transport plan is under the microscope.
An improvement plan has been introduced following a scathing review of the $6.4 billion Let's Get Wellington Moving.
It includes an independent chair being appointed to the board, three new leadership positions, and a commitment to getting spades in the ground this year.
Wellington Mayor Andy Foster told Mike Hosking it's a start, after countless issues were uncovered.
He says they included large numbers of positions filled with temporary contractors.
The Minister of Transport wants some parts of Let's Get Wellington Moving shovel-ready by the end of the year.
It follows the minister Michael Wood meeting with the project's leadership yesterday to get a plan ready for what's needed going forward.
They agreed to shake up the governance of the project and a focus on walking, cycling and bus improvements over the next three years.
Michael Wood says it's now time to move forward with the delivery of these projects.
