All lives matter. we know ALL lives matter, we should all feel that ALL lives matter, but white lives have ALWAYS mattered in this country without a shred of doubt, since 1776.
From 1934/1968 we allowed banks to decide where the black Community could purchase homes, effectively creating the divide between inner cities and Suburbs, stripping funding for public schools, and public infrastructure. From 1864-1964, and still to the present day, we heavily restricted the rights of the black Community to vote. It’s only been a short 50 years since we could finally share a public pool with the black Community, and there are still towns that enforce sundown laws where members of the black community are publicly and lawfully discouraged from exercising their right to simply exists when the sun goes down. Last month a black man couldn’t even cash a check without being suspected of forgery, and killed by the police while laying on the ground with his hands cuffed behind his back. So do all lives really matter, or does it only feel morally superior to say all lives matter?
Because I’m not a black person, so I don’t doubt my life matters, but from what I see today, and over the course of my 30 year life, my life matters more and the lives of those in my bloodline throughout our history have always mattered more.
The country doesn’t need a reminder that white lives have always mattered, We need to acknowledge the fact that black lives matter as well.
