Episode 1648

Have you participated in any of the protests going on this past week? In this special JIMMY RANTS on The LLVLC Show Episode 1648, Jimmy talks about some of the hurdles to wider acceptance of the Back Lives Matter movement.

“People are afraid to say anything because they are afraid that questioning will be met with screaming and name calling.”

– Jimmy Moore

The news has been dominated over the last few days with coverage of the latest protests triggered by the brutal police abuse causing the horrific murder of George Floyd. We have seen protests all over the country erupt from this senseless act of violence.

During this time we have seen members of the white community left not knowing how to respond and react. There seems to be a communication breakdown, and here are some of the ways Jimmy has noticed that we could communicate together in a more constructive way.

The time is now for the white community to have these conversations in an open forum to help the black community overcome oppression.⁣

1. They’re afraid of the mob mentality and being labeled a racist for saying the wrong things⁣

2. They don’t feel like they’ve done anything personally wrong to people of color and should not be held accountable for their ancestors’ actions⁣

3. They honestly don’t think about people who are another color in their day-to-day lives⁣

4. They don’t understand what the phrase “black lives matter” actually means and why “all lives matter” is insulting⁣

5. They think that since slavery ended after the Civil War 150 years ago and the civil rights movement happened 60 years ago, we’re all good now⁣

6. They say we helped to elect the first black president in US history in 2007 when Barack Obama won the presidency and that marked the end of racial strife proving they’re not racist⁣

7. They are concerned with the left-leaning progressive political undertone to the social injustice movement that some may disagree with philosophically⁣

8. They believe that this is only coming up now as a way to prevent Donald Trump from being reelected president in November⁣

9. They don’t feel like they have the right to share their honest opinions in this discussion and will be called ignorant, tone deaf, and a white supremacist with white privilege if they share those views⁣

10. They think anyone who brings up race relations is an SJW (social justice warrior) just looking to cause trouble and not looking for solutions⁣

11. They honestly have no idea what it feels like to grow up in a world with black skin and all that comes with it⁣

12. They think police officers are being unfairly characterized as the enemy of the black community in this discussion⁣

13. They think racism cuts both ways and that black people can also be racist towards white people⁣

14. They don’t understand the decades of frustration that has led to the protesting, looting, and destruction happening across the US⁣

15. They don’t know what they don’t know about the reality of white privilege⁣
