Strengthening Veterans' Healthcare
Leslie is joined by Dr. Cindy Cooke, the president of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). She is an experienced nurse and nurse practitioner with national board certification as a family nurse practitioner.
The two discuss a rule-change that's in bureaucratic limbo---and should be enacted. It would give Nurse Practioners the ability to practice up to their full training and qualifications in all states and VA care facilities. This would greatly decrease the wait time that vet's currently have---over a half a million wait a month or more for an appointment!
Dr. Cooke has provided primary care to patients for 18 years, and for over 12 years exclusively to active duty and retired military members and their families.
