Leslie is joined by callers, as well as Ron Pollack, Founding Executive Director of Families USA, the national organization for health care consumers. Families USA’s mission is to achieve high-quality, affordable health coverage for everyone in the U.S.

They discuss the evaluation of the American Health Care Act (Trumpcare) by the nonpartisan CBO (Congressional Budget Office).

Some of the most significant findings from the CBO are that replacing Obamacare with Trumpcare would result in the following:

-14 million less Americans insured next year

-24 million less Americans insured by 2026

-The bill is paid for with a staggering $880 billion dollar cut to Medicaid over a decade

-The plan provides a $600 billion dollar tax cut over 10 years for wealthy Americans, because they would no longer be subject to the taxes that pay for current health care subsidies

-A 64-year-old making $26,500 would pay $1,700 for coverage in 2026 under Obamacare, thanks to its subsidies. But under Trumpcare, that person would get hit with an annual premium bill of $14,600. (Half of their income)
