2024 Presidential Contenders; What Happens if U.S. Defaults on its Debt?

Published: Jan. 23, 2023, 8 p.m.

The guest host for today's show is Brad Bannon. Brad runs Bannon Communications Research, a polling, message development and media firm which helps labor unions, progressive issue groups and Democratic candidates win public affairs and political campaigns. His show, 'Deadline D.C. with Brad Bannon,' airs every Monday from 3-4pm ET.

Charlie Cook, one of America's foremost political analysts, joins Brad in the first half hour to discuss the Democratic and Republican contenders for President in 2024, as well as what the Senate map could look like then. This includes the state of Arizona, where Congressman Ruben Gallegos announced today that he'll be running for Kyrsten Sinema's seat as a Democrat. This comes just about one month after Senator Sinema switched her party affiliation from Democrat to Independent.
Cook is Editor and Publisher of the 'Cook Political Report' and his Twitter handle is @CharlieCookDC.

During the second half of the show, the prominent Economist, Dr. Robert Shapiro, is on to talk about the danger presented to America's economic recovery if House Republicans refuse to raise the U.S. debt ceiling (something that has never happened in our nation's history).

Dr. Shapiro is Chairman of Sonecon, an economic advisory firm and a Senior Fellow of the McDonough School of Business at Georgetown University.
His website is Sonecon.com and his Twitter handle is @RobShapiro.

Brad writes a political column every Sunday for 'The Hill.' He's on the National Journal's panel of political insiders and is a national political analyst for WGN TV and Radio in Chicago and KNX Radio in Los Angeles.
