Agree or Disagree: The Podcast- Food, Culture, Kindness with Dr. Theresa Nicassio.

The word food is defined any nutritious substance that people or animals eat or drink, or that plants absorb, in order to maintain life and growth.

Now for you that is true. Through perspective, some struggle, and discipline food has been a strong part of their life. You eat well. You cook well. You live well. You have maintained life and growth.

But maybe you are on the other perspective, it’s not. For a variety of different reasons, you may have had a struggle with food. You have tried many different things, diets, other things, but there is struggle. Which has led to self condemnation and shame. Which has led to many other things. But you have not eaten well. You have not cooked well. You have not lived well. You are struggling to maintain a well lived life and growth.

There is one other perspective. One that is a bit silent, but it’s there. The fact that some do not out of cost and circumstances, do not eat. Some kids miss meals. Some adults miss meals.

It’s interesting this definition of food. Because it would seem for some of us, I know for me that although food is intended in many ways to be a medicine, my relationship with food seems counter to that.

Perhaps our guest today can give some perspective.
