Lessons from Moving Countries | Having to Adapt to a New Situation

Published: Sept. 24, 2020, 10 a.m.

b'In this episode we discuss what we have learned in our journey, moving from Ireland to Portugal. We wanted to be able to spend more time together as a family, so a big lesson we have picked up on is attachment to things and possessions and we’ve had to learn how to let go and have less. We’ve also learned the process and extra time you have to take to get set up in a new area and get all your new services and bills set up. Rosie tells how she was able to get out of feeling like she was not in her comfort zone by reaching out to and befriending other people who were new in the area. Then there are other little things like learning new directions and having to get used to the different way things are laid out in the city.

“When we’re emotionally attached to things, it’s very hard to let go of them, and that’s why it’s always good to either have somebody with you who has no attachment, or in some cases to just have an Adam. Now I’m very good at getting rid of, but Adam is brutal to the point where he would rob you of all your memories if he could.” 3:55
