How to Get Out Of A Funk! | The Importance of Gratitude and Humility

Published: June 20, 2023, 10 a.m.

b'When you’re in a funk, you have to fill yourself up with gratitude, which is not as simple as getting a fuel nozzle jammed into your fuel tank and filling it up. The price you have to pay for that is being open and humble, and walking away from pride. Sometimes we can’t choose our own circumstances or how other people treat us, and certain situations may be thrust upon us that are completely out of our control control, but we can choose to an extent how these things affect us and whether we’re going to be offended or use gratitude to see the positive, feel more happy, and just experience more peace. Gratitude doesn’t discount justice or extra necessary help like therapy, but it definitely helps ease the burden of unhappiness and dissatisfaction with one’s situation.

“I said ‘Let’s talk through this. How come you’re making green choices at the library and red choices at the doctor’s appointment?’ and he said “Because I was hungry and because there was nothing to do and I was bored because the TV didn’t work in the waiting room.’ and I said ‘OK, so you’re telling me that you make red choices when you’re hungry or bored?’ and he said ‘Yes.’ So I was grateful that he had made red choices in the doctor’s appointment because it brought clarity to me of what his needs are and now moving forward, I will watch out for him being bored or hungry.” 14:16
