Creating Space | Creativity & Independence for your Kids

b'Boredom is often what drives people to be creative and productive, but with so much to entertain us these days, sometimes it’s harder to experience boredom and thus be creative. Even many of the toys created nowadays are more advanced and take away that bit of imagination that kids would otherwise have to do themselves. What you do as a parent will often influence what your kids do, like if you’re doing something that focuses on yourself, they will sense it and come bother you or want to be involved, but if you do something like house work for example where your focus is not on yourself, the kids will kind of mind their own business or keep themselves busy/entertained, knowing you’re available if they need you.

“Once your attention is focused on something else where it’s not on them, and they know if they looked for your help, you wouldn’t be able to give it, then they want to interrupt that. But if it’s house work, they don’t care, they literally don’t care what you’re doing and they don’t bother you.” 7:10
