Do you know what a curriculum slave is? I\\u2019m sure you\\u2019ve met one before \\u2014 perhaps you\\u2019ve been one before. (Or perhaps you\\u2019re one now, in which case we\\u2019ll try to help set you free in the course of this post.) A curriculum slave thinks the curriculum is her master, and she has to follow whatever the curriculum says \\u2014 to the letter. The curriculum slave doesn\\u2019t allow herself to think about what is best for her students \\u2014 or even for herself as a teacher. Instead, she exists at the curriculum\\u2019s beck and call, and when she doesn\\u2019t fulfill its requirements, she beats herself up.
