One-third to one-half of the American troops during the Revolutionary War 9 of the 56 signers of the Declaration of Independence were Irish Americans. Today, approximately one in four Americans can trace their ancestry in part to Ireland. A Tribute to My Irish Roots-"Michael Lynch came to America first, and bought his land in Wisconsin in 1857.\\xa0 He then wrote to a friend still in Ireland, and asked him to find him an Irish wife.\\xa0 Margaret Scully was 16 at the time and agreed to go.\\xa0 She traveled with her brothers Dan & Tom Scully in 1860.\\xa0 They were married April 10, 1860 in Stillwater, MN."
