The American Shamanism Movement was formed recognizing that the need for a form of practice which put people directly in contact with the spiritual world that was specific to the needs of people in Pittsburgh, PA, and for Americans in a larger context. The movement offers four years of training in shamanic work, three of which are in its unique tradition. The new textbook is the information for the first year of training called “An Introduction to Shamanic Practice,” which is designed to be everything a person not wanting to be a community practitioner needs to know to have a more shamanic, animistic, or spiritual life for them and their families. It provides an overview of traditions and practices from around the world with the intent of helping a person who wants to take the practices more seriously in finding the tradition that suits them best.
