04/30/07: Conflict over the Iraq Occupation, Part 1

Published: May 1, 2007, 9:15 p.m.

This entire episode of the ELPN was dedicated to the Iraq war, on the eve of the anniversary of "Mission Accomplished." In the first segment, we have a clip of Tom DeLay, disgraced former US Representative, calling Sen. Harry Reid and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi traitors for saying, essentially, that Bush's surge strategy is NOT going to lead to victory in Iraq. However, retired generals are coming out of the woodwork, saying EXACTLY the same thing that Reid and Pelosi are saying. I wonder who are the traitors... the retired generals that think the Democrats are right, or the Bush lackeys who send our sons and daughters to die. Also included is a radio address by retired General William Odom, who calls on Bush to establish timetables for the Iraqis. Jared and Ralph reveal what the military is REALLY thinking about Bush's "surge" and lack of accountability.
