03/01/07: The Surge... Is It Still On?

The Democrats have been talking about making sure the troops that Bush wants to "surge" with are properly rested, equipped, and trained. However, the bill codifying this expects to meet resistance along the way. They know they can't override a veto, so they added a provision that only the President can send troops without the rest, gear, and skills, laying failure directly at the feet of the Boy who Would Be King. They hope that Bush will not veto it, since he still gets his surge. They then added a "timetable" clause, cutting troops off after six months. This may doom the bill to failure, but it still keeps Democrats from "owning" a war that is becoming a disaster. In addition, Joe LIEberman asks us to trust the Bush cabal's supposed "intelligence" on Iran, just because. Does he have Israel's best interests at heart? Jared and Ralph reveal the truth behind it all. Also, check out JasJones' song, "Corporate Neckties," included at the end of the podcast!
