Episode 16-The Campaign to Preserve Net Neutrality

Published: May 12, 2006, 4:52 p.m.

We have the privilege of accessing practically any content anywhere on the internet, provided the owner of that content has granted permission for access.

No internet service provider has the right to block or slow down access to that content in favor of any other content.

This is known as "net neutrality" and it is something that internet users take for granted.

This freedom is in danger, and could be eliminated if a bill in the US Congress, HR5252, becomes law.

This bill would give ISPs the right to block or slow access to any site for any reason, or to charge higher fees for faster access.

Please help all of us stop this takeover of the internet by corporate America by signing the online petition at http://civic.moveon.org/save_the_internet.

Thanks for listening and Stay Powerful!
