b'On top of the agenda for the U.S. Department of Commerce is American competitiveness--to create the conditions for economic growth and opportunity across the nation. What this comes down to, though, is a complex mix of policy, advocacy, collaboration, international trade, research, and public engagement. And, of course, so much depends on action in Congress, as the infrastructure bill and the reconciliation package continue to work their way through Congress.\\\\r\\\\n\\\\r\\\\nAs the 40th U.S. Secretary of Commerce, Gina Raimondo\\\\\'s leadership is key to President Biden\\\\\'s \\\\"Build Back Better\\\\" agenda. Not only is this effort focused on increasing the competitiveness of the U.S. workforce, but also on removing burdens and obstacles from businesses and labor--lowering the costs of child care and elder care and also improving broadband infrastructure, for instance.\\\\r\\\\n\\\\r\\\\nPrior to joining the administration, Secretary Raimondo was the 75th Governor of Rhode Island, and had a successful career in venture investing.
