b'Former Days of our Lives head writer Sheri Anderson, who is credited with\\xa0creating some of the most memorable storylines and supercouples on American daytime television, including Luke and Laura, Bo and Hope, John and Marlena, and Patch and Kayla, says soap operas are about pure entertainment, not voyeurism.
"The fact that reality TV is largely staged makes it even sadder,\\u201d Anderson said. \\u201cLike watching a \'snuff\' film and knowing that someone is going to truly be ridiculed, injured or even die -- yet viewers still watch -- is heartbreaking."
