The song is the first entry on the chart for the singer-songwriter, who goes by the name Oliver Anthony Music. His other song, "Aint Gotta Dollar," debuted at number 82. The song\'s debut success surpassed Elvis and the Beatles.

Anthony became the first artist to debut at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 without any prior chart history. He beat out Taylor Swift, Morgan Wallen, Luke Combs, and Olivia Rodrigo to reach the top spot. The song is about the frustration of working-class struggles. It struck a chord with conservative pundits.
