Editor-in-chief Shawn Kennedy and clinical editor Betsy Todd present the highlights of the May issue of AJN. In our first CE, \\u201cWork-Related Stress and Positive Thinking Among Acute Care Nurses: A Cross-Sectional Survey,\\u201d the authors share their study to evaluate acute care nurses\\u2019 use of positive thinking in managing work-related stress. Our second CE, \\u201cAssessing a Child\\u2019s Pain,\\u201d discusses the factors that can influence a child\\u2019s report of pain, describes components of a comprehensive pediatric pain assessment, and reviews appropriate pain assessment scales for children of different ages and levels of cognitive development. The authors of our next article, \\u201cNursing and the Sustainable Development Goals: From Nightingale to Now,\\u201d explore how nurses can contextualize the United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals within their daily practice and create holistic plans of care for patients, families, communities, and nations. \\u201cLeading the Effort to Promote Bleeding Control in Our Communities\\u201d provides an overview of Stop the Bleed, an initiative to educate the public on simple steps to stop or slow life-threatening bleeding and explains how nurses can promote it.
