Data Mining: Leveraging Friends and Influencing People

By examining Obama’s revolutionary data mining apparatus from the 2012 re-election campaign focusing in on cable TV buys, his smart phone app and social media we see if we can get our arms around this new buzz word “data mining” and we see if we can find the edges and the icky parts. We start with some recent tweets and a recent “news article” but also, we go back in time and specifically to a MIT Technology Review article from 2012.
