The power to overcome came as the Lord Jesus Christ journeyed into baptism, then into the desert to be tempted of the devil. Tempted of him but not by him; is a vast difference and indicator to the fact that Jesus could not be tempted by the devil because there was no sin in the Lord for satan to tempt him with. Satan tried to manipulate the Lord into disobeying the words of God the father. You will overcome the evil one when you relentlessly stand firm in believing what God has said to you; Satan is a liar, and a father of lies, when he speaks, he will either lie outright or resort to deception by twisting the truth.
