What they got instead was so much more, a deeply personal critique of obsessive revenge, rape culture, double-standards - and it's better because of it, with a final act that needs to be seen without spoilers. As only the third film to elicit more than an hour of podcast discussion, Promising Young Woman earns a major Talk Movies To Me recommendation and could very well remain our favorite film of 2021 through the end of the year.
