b'The first Cult Cinema Showdown of 2022 features two films based on video games that TRIED to be different than their source materials. What we ended up with were Super Mario Bros. and Future Cops. While Super Mario Bros. was the first ever video game movie adaptation set in a dystopian Manhattan-based "Dinohattan", Future Cops pulled characters directly from Street Fighter into a chaotic dystopian 2043 Hong Kong with time travel elements akin to The Terminator, mixed with Rom-Com. This is no deep dive. This is us trying to process what the hell we actually just watched...and it was ACTUALLY FUN. Listen to find out!
