Published: May 24, 2023, 8 a.m.

Discover the crucial link between exercise, women’s health, and physical therapy. Injuries and physical changes throughout life can impact our ability to be active and do what we enjoy. Working with an experienced physical therapist can be beneficial in preventing and healing injuries and in strengthening the body, especially for women. Dr. Monica Moore, PT, DPT, joined Gianna Masi, RD, CISSN, on Stronger U Radio to delve into a range of topics about women’s muscle and bone health, including:

 • The importance of muscle mass, improving movement patterns, and mobility for overall health

 • Healing and prevention from chronic or acute pain
 • A general overview of pelvic floor health and what you might expect in a pelvic floor PT evaluation

 • Physical therapy’s role in helping with postpartum return to activity (whether it’s been six weeks or ten years)
 • Muscle and bone loss during menopause, and what proactive action can help to minimize or slow down this loss
 • The definition of conditions such as sarcopenia, osteopenia, and osteoporosis

Dr. Monica Moore, PT, DPT, holds a doctorate in physical therapy from Rutgers University and is a partner at AMP Performance Rehab in New Jersey. She is passionate about rehab across all spectrums of life and has extensive experience working with elite athletes. Her love of movement has been a lifelong journey, and her passion for dance led her to her current career. After sustaining multiple injuries, she found herself frustrated by the lack of answers from providers who failed to look at the specifics of her body and movement patterns while understanding her physical needs as a dancer. This experience motivated her to become a practitioner who can help her clients understand their bodies better and be able to return to doing what they love safely.
