Your genes are not the whole story. Changes in how your genes work\\u2014independent from the genes themselves\\u2014are passed on through generations. This is the field of epigenetics.

The field is young. The discovery of inheritable traits that are not based on DNA throws out many of our conclusions about genetic inheritance. Changes in anything, especially things that affect your health, could be encoded in your body and inherited by your children.

Some aspects of who you make yourself to be are immortal.
