As we approach the mid-year mark, this is a powerful time to refocus and get clarity on thoughts, habits, and expectations for ourselves, our furry friends, relationships, projects, and overall experiences. And one way to do that is by borrowing the ancient traditions of labyrinth walking, which spanned cultures from Ancient Greece to Native American tribes.
Labyrinths can be as simple as a circular path drawn in the ground with a stick, outlined with stones, laid out in yarn in your home, or as ornate as the beautiful octogonal altar at the Knights Templar Convent in Tomar, Portugal, where the Knight Templars would walk on horseback inside the golden gilded Church altar preparing for battle.
Walking a labyrinth is not only calming and clarifying for your thoughts, but the slow, intentional walking on a set path allows for a level of contemplation, trust, and surrender that can be difficult to find in other aspects of our life.
