In the inaugural episode of 'Stories of AV Archives', Bill Thompson and Rachel Somers Miles introduce listeners to different perspectives on the significance of sound and moving image cultural heritage and the impact archives that hold these materials have on our lives. With contributions from Paul Gerhardt (BFI, UK), Giovanna Fossati (EYE, NL) Richard Ranft (British Library, UK), Louise Broch (DR Arkiv, DK), Erwin Verbruggen (Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision, NL) and William Uricchio (MIT, USA), listeners get to hear from people actively involved in the archiving and digital cultural spheres with their impressions of the importance of protecting and maintaining access to our AV cultural heritage.
